Which industry has jobs in film, radio, TV, drama, visual art, gallery management, heritage, archeology, music, dance as well as finance, admin, marketing, design, building managenment, joinery, and even technical and digitial roles?
Yes! The creative industry. And here on Tyneside, we are making more new creative sector jobs and careers than almost anywhere. We can proudly boast the fastest growing creative economy in the country. So why should young people consider a creative industry job?
What’s it like working there? What can you do, what skills do you need, can you make a sustainable future, what’s the pay like, who could you work for? Or could you work for yourself?
Maybe you’ve reached the age where you need to make choices about your career for the first time. Maybe you’re a parent, a teacher, careers adviser or someone who works with young people. Either way, you have plenty of questions…

There are jobs for almost everyone, and amazing careers waiting for the next generation of young people on Tyneside. No matter what skills, abilities ans talents you have there is a role for you. And you can work with some of the most interesting and passionate companies around, or work for yourself.
From technicians to curators to forklift truck drivers. From artisits to administrators to kitchen staff. From games designers to joiners, venue managers and more. Spend your days in theatres, historic buildings, on the Roman Wall or working at home and with creative collaborators to producer your own fantastic stuff.
Discover! Creative Careers week is a national week of special events run by creative employers. Here on Tyneside you can spend time at Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, Northern Stage, Dance City, Live Theatre, Sage Gateshead, the National Trust, the Common Room of the Great North, New Writing North, The Princes Trust, Newcastle Castle, Tyne and Wear Archives and Museums and Tyneside Cinema.
We are throwing open the doors to young people, to inspire and inform. Schools are booking up now to take groups aged 11+ along to specially organised sessions throughout the week of 18th-22nd November.
